Dr. Faustino Bernadett & his wife Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett are proud to highlight World Central Kitchen in this Nonprofit Spotlight. World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.
The organization was founded in 2010 when they provided meals to Haitians following the country’s devastating earthquake.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, WCK partnered with the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, LA County and Los Angeles Unified School district to distribute meals to families in the Los Angeles area.
Together with their partners, WCK can provide thousands of meals each day to families in need.
They are first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. They build resilient food systems with locally led solutions.
Most recently they provided meals to Ukrainians during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. They have set up 8 kitchens on the Ukrainian-Poland border.
