In a continued show of support for literacy and education, Dr. Faustino “Tino” Bernadett and his wife, Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett, announced a $10,000 donation to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation. Their gift will help strengthen the Foundation’s mission to enhance programs, services, and resources at local library branches.
The Bernadetts attended an evening with Dr. Craig R. Smith, author of First Ladies: Enduring Infidelities, Strokes and Assassinations, featuring special guest Dr. Nina Richardson, First Lady of Long Beach, on June 4, 2025. The event was held at the office of Skip Keesal and celebrated the Foundation’s ongoing work while recognizing its partners and donors.
Dr. Faustino Bernadett also demonstrated his commitment to education and community enrichment with a $5,000 donation to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation in 2024. His support has reflected a lifelong dedication to expanding access to knowledge, opportunity, and resources for all, a legacy that continues to shape lives locally and nationally.
About Dr. Faustino Bernadett
Faustino Bernadett is a retired physician whose remarkable career has extended far beyond medicine. As an advocate and community leader, his philanthropic work spans decades and touches many areas, from health care to higher education, literacy, and youth development. Giving back is not just something he does; it’s central to who he is.
In 2004, Tino and his wife Martha co-founded The Molina Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that reduces disparities in access to education and health. Through this work, they’ve distributed millions of books and resources to underserved communities, supported educators and schools, and helped families access tools for success. Their shared vision is simple yet powerful: a healthier, better-educated future for all.
His 2024 and 2025 donations to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation are part of that same mission. Libraries have long served as gateways to opportunity, particularly for individuals and families who may not have access to books, technology, or academic support at home. By investing in the public library system, Dr. Bernadett helps ensure that knowledge remains free and accessible to everyone, regardless of background.
Long Beach Public Library
The Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) plays a vital role in the city's cultural and educational life. With 12 branches across Long Beach, the system serves thousands of residents each year through literacy programs, digital learning tools, homework help, job readiness support, and more. Support from donors like Dr. Bernadett, especially through the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, helps the library system expand its services, reach more people, and continue evolving in a digital world.
LBPL is once again engaging readers of all ages with its 2025 Summer Reading Program, an eight-week series of events, themed activities, and reading incentives running from June 14 to August 9. Though Dr. Faustino Bernadett's gift wasn’t directly tied to this initiative, the values of the program, lifelong learning, curiosity, and community engagement, perfectly align with the causes he champions.
Whether through founding a national nonprofit or supporting local institutions like the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, Dr. Faustino Bernadett remains steadfast in his belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for transformation. His work continues to inspire others to give back and invest in a brighter future for all.
