Faustino Bernadett and his wife, Martha, were honored to serve as Gold Sponsors for the seventh annual George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards held in Washington, D.C., on October 6, 2025. The mission of Points of Light closely reflects Dr. Bernadett’s longstanding commitment to expanding service, educational opportunities, medical care, and safe learning spaces for individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of financial means. This connection is evident in Points of Light’s work to inspire volunteers to tackle urgent challenges and help create stronger, more inclusive communities across the globe. This year’s award winners and honorees, Marvin Ellison, Dynasty Taylor, and Gregg Petersmeyer, shared powerful stories of service that were truly inspiring.
About Gregg Petersmeyer
Gregg Petersmeyer has spent more than 35 years working across government, business, and the nonprofit sector to promote civic engagement and volunteerism in the United States. As senior advisor to President George H.W. Bush, he helped launch the White House Office of National Service and the Daily Point of Light Award, and played a key role in establishing the Points of Light Foundation and passing the National and Community Service Act of 1990, which laid the groundwork for AmeriCorps.
He also co-founded and chairs America’s Promise Alliance and has served on boards including Points of Light and City Year, supporting efforts to strengthen communities and create opportunities for youth. As Points of Light celebrated its 35th anniversary, Gregg Petersmeyer was honored with The George H. W. Bush Lifetime of Service Award for his long-standing contributions to the service movement.
About Marvin Ellison
Marvin Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Lowe’s, is a highly respected retail leader and the only African American to lead two Fortune 500 companies. With more than 35 years of experience at J.C. Penney, The Home Depot, and Target, he is known for his integrity and transformative leadership.
His civic commitment includes service on the University of Memphis and FedEx boards and support for organizations that expand opportunities for minority youth. Marvin’s impact has earned him multiple appearances on Barron’s “Top CEOs,” recognition on Fortune’s “Most Inspirational CEOs” and “World’s Greatest Leaders” lists, Savoy’s “Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America,” and the National Father’s Day Council’s “Father of the Year.” He most recently received the NRF Visionary Award (2023) and the McGowan Fund Ethical Leader of the Year Award (2024).
About Dynasty Taylor
Dynasty Taylor, a South Los Angeles native and social worker, founded Dynasty’s United Youth Association (DUYA) in 2014 at age 23 while earning her Master’s in Social Work at USC. Guided by a commitment to social justice and educational equity, she leads DUYA’s efforts to help underserved youth rise from poverty to prosperity through grant-funded programs and youth-centered curricula. Dynasty also serves as a Public Social Services commissioner for L.A. County’s District II and has been recognized by the LA Times, New York Times, and Points of Light for her impactful work supporting youth and families across Los Angeles.
