Faustino Bernadett (who also goes by Tino Bernadett) has spent much of his professional life looking for ways to contribute to the communities around him. Throughout his career, he has supported a wide range of charitable efforts by offering his time, skills, and financial resources. One of the most significant initiatives he helped create is The Molina Foundation, which he co-founded in 2004 with his wife, Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett. Tino and Martha’s goal was to establish a national nonprofit focused on improving access to education and supporting overall well-being. Dr. Bernadett is a member of The Molina Foundation’s Board of Directors.

About The Molina Foundation

Since its founding, The Molina Foundation has partnered with more than 3,000 organizations, schools, and community groups throughout the United States. Through these collaborations, the foundation has donated over 11 million new books to families and students. In addition to book distribution, the organization provides workshops and programs intended to support educators, caregivers, and community leaders in building stronger learning environments.

A core part of The Molina Foundation’s approach is working directly with organizations that already serve families in need. Instead of developing programs in isolation, the foundation collaborates with local partners who understand the unique challenges within their communities. These partners include early-childhood programs, K–12 schools, clinics, family service agencies, churches, and other groups serving low-income and at-risk populations.

The foundation places a particular emphasis on partnering with organizations that demonstrate clear and measurable impact. By doing so, they aim to ensure that resources are directed toward programs that can make a meaningful difference in children’s educational and developmental outcomes.

Strengthening Communities: Molina Foundation’s Latest Partnership with VOA

This year, The Molina Foundation expanded its efforts through a partnership with Volunteers of America (VOA) as part of its “Book Buddies” initiative. The purpose of this collaboration is to provide brand-new children’s books to VOA affiliates across the country. The donated books support VOA’s existing programs by increasing access to literacy materials in households where such resources may be limited. All books are donated at no cost to VOA, allowing local affiliates to distribute them directly to the families they serve. These books are incorporated into VOA programs that reach children and families through various support services. The goal is to offer materials that encourage reading, support early literacy, and give children more opportunities to engage with books at home.

The Molina Foundation has provided books to multiple VOA locations, including VOA of Florida, VOA Upstate New York, VOA Oregon, and VOA Minnesota/Wisconsin. Through these ongoing partnerships, The Molina Foundation continues to work toward improving access to educational materials and supporting the long-term success of children and families across the country. The organization’s book donations, community collaborations, and literacy-focused initiatives reflect its continued commitment to helping strengthen learning opportunities where they are needed most.

Dr. Faustino Bernadett hopes the mission of The Molina Foundation continues on for many generations.
