For many years, Faustino Bernadett and his wife, Martha Molina Bernadett, have been strong advocates for the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. Their ongoing support has been crucial in advancing the Aquarium’s mission of ocean conservation and education. The Bernadetts have been instrumental in enhancing exhibits and funding initiatives that bring people closer to marine life and foster a deeper understanding of ocean preservation.

In partnership with Dr. J. Mario Molina, president and CEO of Molina Healthcare, and other members of the Molina family, Faustino and Martha generously donated $2 million to help establish the Molina Animal Care Center, which opened its doors in 2010. This significant contribution underscores their shared commitment to marine conservation, education, and the welfare of ocean life.

About the Aquarium of the Pacific

The Aquarium of the Pacific is dedicated to encouraging a deeper appreciation for the Pacific Ocean and its diverse ecosystems. As a vital part of the community, the Aquarium highlights a range of cultural and environmental issues. Being the largest aquarium in Southern California, it showcases approximately 12,000 animals across 100 exhibits, attracting nearly 1.7 million visitors each year. The Aquarium also offers a variety of educational programs for all ages, providing essential insights into ocean science and environmental stewardship.

The $2 million donation from Faustino and Martha Bernadett, along with the Molina family and Molina Healthcare, has made it possible for the Animal Care Center at the Aquarium to offer visitors a unique view of veterinary science in action, aiming to inspire future generations to pursue careers in science.

A Legacy of Education and Service

Faustino Bernadett’s passion for education was sparked in his youth, greatly influenced by his father, Dr. Faustino Bernadett, Sr., M.D., who was the only Spanish-speaking family doctor in Chico, California, dedicated to serving the underserved. This strong foundation in service and education has guided Faustino’s philanthropic efforts, which continue to support the Aquarium of the Pacific’s conservation and education programs. The impact of his legacy will continue through the ongoing efforts of the Aquarium.
