In tribute to his remarkable contributions, he’s also established the Faustino Bernadett, M.D., Sr. Scholarship Fund at UCSF, which will support Spanish-speaking medical students and aspiring leaders in healthcare.
Dr. Faustino Bernadett, Sr., the son of immigrants from Chihuahua, Mexico, grew up in Michigan, driven by a deep commitment to helping others. His journey led him to Chico, California, where he became the only Spanish-speaking family physician in the area, impacting countless lives. He also extended his service internationally, providing medical aid in Vietnam and a remote village in Mexico, while mentoring family medicine students at UC Davis.
The Faustino Bernadett, M.D., Sr. Scholarship Fund honors his dedication and aims to inspire future physicians who will enrich communities just as he did. At the Clínica Tepati 50th Benefit Banquet, Dr. Faustino Bernadett, Sr. was recognized for his legacy, and his son, Faustino ‘Tino’ Bernadett, spoke movingly about his father's work and values.
